As an important carrier of introducing international education sources,Chinese foreign cooperatively-run school programs enjoy increasing popularity among schools and universities. It has positive significance to improve cooperatively-run school and personnel training practices. Also,it is conducive to boosting the modernization and internationalization of China’s education.Interpreting, being an indispensable bridge of communication, plays a crucial role in Chinese foreign cooperatively-run school exchange.High-quality interpreting is advantageous to enrollment, attracting more target students, and promoting inter-school communication.Fujian Province,as an example,is home to nearly sixty such cooperatively-run school programs until 2019,which brings about surging interpreting demands in this regard. How to offer optimal interpreting services for schools and students is an urgent issue that is worth considering. This report takes an interpreting practice provided by the author for Palmerston North Boys’ and Girls’ High School as the research subject. The main study cases come from the meeting between Palmerston North Boys’ and Girls’ High School and the Affiliated High School of Fujian Normal University, and the enrollment promotion speech to Fuzhou Shidai Middle School.Eco-translatology is taken as the theoretical framework of this report. From the perspective of Eco-translatology,translators make adaptive selection and selective adaptation activities in the process of translation.Translators are held responsible for maintaining the balance and harmony among translational texts, translational eco-environment,and translational communities.Translators are placed at the central position and play the dominating role in the process of translation.Meanwhile,Eco-translatology emphasizes the translator’s constraint, that is,the self-discipline and post-event penalty.Based on the theory of translator-centeredness of Eco-translatology,this report explores the application of translator-centeredness from translator’s responsibility, translator’s adaptation and selection, and translator’s constraint through analyzing the interpreting practice provided for Palmerston North Boys’ and Girls’ High School. It aims to verify the advantages of translator-centeredness for interpreters when they perform interpreting tasks. Also, interpreting errors and improper behaviors of this practice are discussed for future improvement. In a word, this report intends to offer interpreting reference for Chinese foreign cooperatively-run school exchange.
