A Research On The Word Families Of The Consonant Of Throat-tooth Sound In Guangyun Shengxi

Guangyun Shengxi authored by Shen Jianshi is a compilation of materials that can be used to connect lots of Chinese cognate words,so it can be used to summarize Chinese word families.Based on the previous researches connecting a large number of cognate words in Guangyun Shengxi and the work of adding several cognate words by myself,this paper uses the ancient phonetic system and conversion principles established in Tongyuanzilun by Wang Li,the viewpoint called “source-meaning element” proposed by Wang Ning and the theory called “source-meaning category” proposed in Shangguhanyu Tongyuanci Yiyixitong Yanjiu by Huang Yiqing,to analyze and synthesize the consanguineous words of the consonant of throat-tooth sound in Guangyun Shengxi,and concludes several word family systems.The first chapter arranges the groups of consanguineous words according to the homophonic system of Guangyun Shengxi.With reference to the classification of source-meaning categories by Huang Yiqing,it ensures the source-meaning category of each word in the groups,and analyzes the connected relationship among the source-meaning categories and that among the pronunciations of words.The interrelated relationship lists the constituents of the same family as the category of morphology,quantitative variation,organization,quality and mind.The category of morphology includes subcategories such as dynamics and shape;the category of quantitative variation includes subcategories such as presence or absence;the category of organization includes subcategories such as separation-or-polymerization and organization II;the category of quality includes subcategories such as quantity,length,strength,and luminosity;the category of mind includes subcategories such as mentality and time.General meanings are “hidden cover”,“round or curve”,“uneven”,“bump”,“empty”,“intersected”,“connected”,“decomposition”,“long or high or big”,“firm or hard”,“chaotic or unknown”,and “fast or urgent” in turn.The second and third chapter analyze the phonetic and semantic relationships(the phonetic relationship and the relationship of source-meaning categories)among the groups of consanguineous words listed in the first chapter,and merge the interrelated groups of consanguineous words into a word family system,and explain the aggregation and dissociation of phonetic relationships among members of the same word family.The fourth chapter summarizes the former three chapters,and puts forward the deficiency and prospect of the research.
