| In recent years,China has paid increasingly more attention to aerosol research.Further in2020,the outbreak of COVID-19 attracted the eyes of more research institutes and laboratories to aerosol research. This translation task was commissioned by Military Veterinary Institute,Academy of Military Medical Science,PLA Academy of Military Science, and I had worked with others to translate an English book on aerosol research, titled Aerobiology for internal reference by the Institute. After receiving this task in early August2020,I translated the first and second chapters. At the end of September 2020,I completed all translation work. This practice report took these two chapters as example for analysis. The content of the translation involved biology and medicine, and the quality of the delivery was reviewed by researchers of the Institute.Concerning this task,I mainly describe five parts in detail: task description, task process,pre-translation preparations, case analysis and conclusion. This report summarizes the features and translation methods of English-Chinese translation of biomedical texts. For the pre-translation preparation,I introduce four aspects: reading and analyzing parallel texts, analyzing text features, choosing computer-aided translation tools and selecting translation theories.Under the guidance of semantic and communicative translation theories, some typical translation examples are analyzed and explained at the lexical, syntactic and textual levels. Finally, the experience and lessons acquired in the translation process of the whole task are summarized.I hope that the content delivered in this translation task can provide help for aerosol researchers, while expecting that the methods and strategies demonstrated in this practice report would,as a reference, facilitate translators to be well engaged in the translation of biomedical texts. |
