A Study On The Quotation Of Hanyu Dazidian (Second Edition)

“Hanyu Dazidian”(汉语大字典)is a large-scale Chinese reference book with the main task of explaining the form,sound and meaning of Chinese characters.The book is widely searched and collected,and it is rich in quotations.It has made great progress in providing evidence and examples.The book was published in 1986 and reprinted in 2010.Due to the limitations of editing conditions at that time and the popularity of the book,there were some errors in citation,which brought some inconvenience to the use of the book.Today,with the development of science and technology,we can avoid the above problems by re-examining these materials with advanced retrieval tools.This paper comprehensively collects the materials of citation problems in the radical Bei(贝),Yi(邑)and Fu(阜)of the seventh volume of “Dazidian”.By analyzing these materials,we can find out the main problems of words and styles in the citation of “Dazidian”.The so-called “writing problem” refers to comparing the documentary evidence of radical Bei(贝),Yi(邑)and Fu(阜)with the main editions,reference books and their editions provided in the “Main Cited Bibliography Table”of the ninth volume of “Dazidian”,and finding out the problem of writing errors in citation.The citation errors can be divided into four categories: incorrect text,disjointed text,developed text and inverted text.These four categories are divided into two parts: citation errors A and citation errors B.The so-called “style problem”refers to comparing the documentary evidence of radical Bei(贝),Yi(邑)and Fu(阜)with the main editions,reference books and their editions provided in the “Main Cited Bibliography Table” of the ninth volume of “Dazidian”,and finding out that the citation is out of style.The problems of this irregularity can be divided into four categories: inconsistency between citation version and ordinary version,wrong citation source,improper citation abridgement and improper punctuation.Guided by Chinese philology and other related theories,and assisted by computer retrieval,this paper points out some deficiencies in the text and style of the cited books in the “Dazidian”,hoping to provide some suggestions for reference in terms of textual collation and style improvement.
