Since the reform and opening up,the development of Chinese oil painting has begun to present a situation of a hundred schools of thought contending and a hundred flowers blooming.As one of the formal languages of Chinese oil painting,Chinese contemporary expressive oil painting has both Chinese and Western aesthetic characteristics and expressionism aesthetics,and subjective color is also an important part of it.As an important methodology to guide Western painting since the 19 th century,subjective color contains the essence of Western Aesthetics and has a profound impact on the development of contemporary performance oil painting in China.This paper first discusses the artistic concept of Western subjective color from the aesthetic characteristics and color application of post impressionist painting,and demonstrates the artistic value and aesthetic status of subjective color in Western art history from the painting creation of post Impressionist artists.Secondly,starting from the development process,characteristics,connections and differences between Chinese and Western expressive painting,it clearly shows the artistic language of the painting form.Finally,it analyzes the painting style of contemporary Chinese expressive oil painting artists in an all-round way,finds the spiritual connotation of subjective expressive color,and integrates it into the author’s oil painting creation.Through the above several parts,it is proved that under the influence of post Impressionist subjective color and Chinese traditional color aesthetics,the development of Chinese contemporary expressive oil painting has distinct color cognition and understanding,which is also in line with the aesthetic requirements of Chinese young artists in the new era.
