| The purpose of this thesis is to make a translation quality assessment of domestic artificial intelligence translation applications with simultaneous interpretation function through error analysis,verify the maturity of its simultaneous interpretation function,explore the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence interpretation,and put forward suggestions to enrich the research in the field of machine interpretation.In this study,President Xi Jinping’s Speech at the National Commendation Conference on Combating COVID-19 was adopted as the corpus,and Tencent Mr.Translator and Youdao Translator,two mainstream applications with simultaneous interpretation function,were selected to simulate simultaneous interpretation of the corpus.The two sampled translations are compared with that of the interpreter from several angles of interpreting fluency,linguistic accuracy,logical coherence,and information fidelity,and the errors in the samples are analyzed and classified.The theoretical part of this thesis reviews the studies of the quality assessment and error analysis from three dimensions.In the part of artificial intelligence interpretation,it states the research status of artificial intelligence interpretation and the theoretical research of artificial intelligence simultaneous interpretation.In the interpretation quality assessment section,the studies on quality assessment criteria of translation,machine translation,interpretation,and machine interpretation are reviewed.In the part of error analysis,the purpose and related theoretical studies are discussed.The sampling method is to play the audio in the same environment,use two artificial intelligence translation software to simulate simultaneous interpreting and extract the simultaneous interpreting of the artificial interpreter,and then make the error analysis of the text corpus to evaluate the translation quality.In the comprehensive analysis of the corpus,the accuracy of speech recognition and segmentation of sentences is discussed first,and then the extracted corpus is analyzed from two levels: word-level and sentence-level.The word level is divided into five branches,including numbers,Chinese Four-character idioms,the vocabulary of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics,Chinese culture-loaded words and terms.And typical proverbs and quotations are selected for comprehensive analysis at the sentence level.Finally,the overall results of the quality of simultaneous interpreting finished by artificial intelligence software are obtained through accuracy and error analysis.Through the comprehensive analysis of the corpus,this paper concludes that inappropriate speech recognition,improper segmentation of sentences,insufficient corpus,and other factors will affect the quality of the translation and cause errors,and the types of interpreting errors are generally summarized as errors caused by speech recognition,errors caused by improper broken sentences,errors caused by insufficient corpus and errors caused by system instability.The simultaneous interpreting function of artificial intelligence translation software has advantages and disadvantages,which can bring new inspiration and research direction to translation practitioners.Researchers and software developers can improve the translation quality of the software from the above levels,and find more room for the development of artificial intelligence interpretation. |
