An Interpreting Practice Report On CMMI Project From The Perspective Of Collocation Theory | Posted on:2022-07-03 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:J Y Li | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2505306509493564 | Subject:Translation | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | With the deepening of globalization, interpreters play an important role in evaluation meetings in the process of introducing international software development standard model to evaluate the domestic software development process. Therefore,it is of great significance to analyze and summarize the linguistic problems of the target language, especially the collocational errors,so as to improve the quality of interpretationThis practice report analyzes the types and causes of collocation errors in the onsite interpretation based on the onsite interpretation practice(about 35 hours)that the author has participated in — Capability Maturity Model Integration projects.Collocation Theory proposed by Sinclair,Structural Approach proposed by Benson are the theoretical principles of this practice report, and relevant suggestions for avoiding collocation errors are offered. This practice report is divided into five chapters. The first chapter introduces the interpreting practice background, purpose, significance, task and client. The second chapter covers the interpreting process, including preparation before interpretation, difficulties in interpretation and feedback after interpretation. The third chapter is composed by two parts. The first part is the literature review of research on collocation and target language abroad and at home. The second part describes the development and evolution of the concept of Collocation, and focuses on the Collocation Theory proposed by Sinclair and the Structural Approach proposed by Benson, which set up a theoretical framework for this practice report. The fourth chapter, guided by Sinclair’s Collocation Theory, analyzes the cases of errors and their causes in the interpreting practice from the perspectives of lexical collocation, colligation, semantic preference and semantic prosody. The causes of collocation errors are analyzed from the aspects of intralingual errors, interlingual errors and communication strategy based-errors,and the proper interpreting collocations are put forward. In the fifth chapter, this chapter of conclusion, collocation errors and their causes in the interpretation practice are summarized and discussed, and suggestions for errors are proposed and listed. It is found that that most of collocation errors in interpreting practice are caused by intralingual factors, while relatively few collocation errors are caused by interlingual factors and the wrong use of communicative strategies.Furthermore, collocation errors in this interpretation practice can mainly be presented in four aspects, namely, lexical collocation, colligation, semantic preference and semantic prosody.Lexical collocation errors include intralingual errors and errors in communication strategies.Intralingual errors consist of synonym misuse, overlooking cooccurrence restrictions and redundancy. The misuses of communication strategies include inappropriate application of hyponym, hypernym and approximation.Colligation errors consist of the errors of overlooking cooccurrence restrictions, overgeneralization and incomplete rule application. The errors at semantic preference level include interlingual errors and intralingual errors.Interlingual errors are the synonym errors in registers, while intralingual errors are mainly caused by unsuitable choices of the synonyms in semantic meaning and false analogy.Intralingual errors are the main causes of semantic prosody errors, including wrong choices of words and phrasal expressions. In addition,in view of the collocation errors in interpreting practice, the author puts forward corresponding solutions from the aspects of awareness of language, language competence and the preparation of technical terminology, hoping to provide useful guidance for interpreting practice and interpreting teaching in the future.Through the description and analysis of the types of errors in interpretation practice, this practice report aims to provide key points for future interpreting work and provide useful enlightenment for interpreting teaching. | Keywords/Search Tags: | collocation, colligation, semantic preference, semantic prosody, collocation errors | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
