Study On The Language Art Of Xi Murong’s Poetry And The Feasibility Of English Translation

Xi Murong is one of the most famous female writers in contemporary China and her works have caused the great sensation in the literary world.Her poems are still being reprinted.She has never stopped writing,and new works keep coming out in recent years.Xi Murong’s poems have their own characteristics in language form and style,and there is no doubt that they are of great significance and value in English translation and intercultural communication.However,at present,the translation and transmission of Chinese poetry still focus on the Chinese classical poetry,while the translation and transmission of Chinese contemporary poetry are obviously lagging.And the translation of Xi Murong’s poetry is even less.Based on phonetics,vocabulary,grammar and rhetoric,this paper takes Xi Murong’s poems as the language text and applies relevant theories of Chinese linguistics to deeply and systematically explore their linguistic arts.In terms of phonetics,rhymes are complex and diverse with flexible and ingenious changes,which cause the sense of rhythm and musicality.So the lingering,the art of soothing and soft phonetic is formed.In terms of vocabulary,images are fresh and natural and words are elegant and amiable.They are not only full of life,but also classical.So the graceful,the art of gentle and refined vocabulary is created.In terms of grammar,the sentence structures are rich,the tone types are diverse,and the clauses are closely related.So the art of elegant,implicit,and euphemistic grammatical is developed.In terms of rhetoric,all kinds of figures of speech are properly used.Content and emotion are highly united and the language expression is extremely strong.So the art of simple,modest,and solemn rhetoric is achieved.Based on their unique language forms and style,from four aspects which are phonetics,vocabulary,grammar and rhetoric,this paper analyzes their English translation feasibility and proposes some translating suggestions.The reappearances of language beauty of Xi Murong’s poems in English are of great significance to the international communication of the beauty of Chinese poetry,of Chinese literature and of Chinese culture.
