A Study Of Shanxi Governor In Ming Dynasty

The governor system is an important political system established by the Ming Dynasty on the basis of absorbing and learning from the experience of previous dynasties.Its purpose is to change the disadvantages of decentralization and low administrative efficiency of the three departments after the abolition of Xingzhongshu province in the early Ming Dynasty,so as to strengthen the centralization of power.This paper takes Shanxi governor as the research object,discusses the reasons,process,authority,group characteristics and functions of its establishment,and makes a comprehensive and in-depth study on it.The full text is divided into the following six parts.The first part mainly elaborates the research status of the academic circles on the Ming Dynasty governor system,as well as the basis of the topic selection and innovation of this paper.The second part discusses the reason and process of Shanxi governor’s establishment from the concrete reality of Shanxi at that time.The third part mainly summarizes the functions of Shanxi governor in politics,economy and military,which is helpful to understand the duties of Shanxi governor.The fourth part analyzes the characteristics of Shanxi provincial governors by statistical analysis of their native place,birth,selection and appointment sources,tenure,and departure direction.The fifth part discusses the contribution of Shanxi governor to the regional society and economy from the aspects of civil administration and military affairs,and the important role it played in consolidating the northern frontier of Ming Dynasty.The sixth part generalizes and summarizes the whole text.Generally speaking,the governor of Shanxi in the Ming Dynasty gradually became an indispensable political force in the Ming Dynasty government from the nature of foreign assignment in the initial establishment period to the local bureaucratization in the later period.In this process,it has its own development and evolution,which came with the gradual practice of the government in the management.The Ming government strengthened the control of Shanxi area by setting up a governor.The governor performed the function of managing the local area and dealt with various relations between the central and local governments.Finally,this system was inherited by the Qing Dynasty and had a far-reaching impact.
