The Relationship Between Temperature Perception And Forgiveness Emotion

The theory of body cognition regards the body,mind and environment as an interactive whole.The external perception and experience of the body is the basis of the concept cognition.The cognitive processing of abstract concepts also affects the individual perception experience of the body.How does abstract concept carry on the psychological representation?This is an important problem that has been studied and discussed in cognitive psychology.Based on the conceptual metaphor theory of personal cognition,people recognize and understand abstract concepts through metaphorical way and with the help of specific perceptual experience.The metaphor summarized by "temperature is emotion" expresses one of the most core abstract concepts of human beings:temperature is an important dimension for people to judge emotion.The concept metaphor theory has been supported by a lot of empirical research in the related research of temperature emotion metaphor.The relevant research has found that the individual’s sense of trust,intimacy,music group,rejection,loneliness and interpersonal distance are all related to temperature perception.In daily life,people also use the concept of temperature related to express forgiveness and related emotions,such as "forgiveness is a warm sunshine,resentment has cold world".Forgiveness emotion,as a complex and pro social emotion,is of great significance to human harmony.Therefore,this paper mainly from the perspective of the study of personal cognition,based on the conceptual metaphor theory,explores the relationship between forgiveness emotion and temperature perception.The study is divided into three experiments.Experiment one proves the degree of connection between concept words of forgiveness or unconquered and cold or warm concept words by implicit association test.The experiment finds that there is implicit relationship between forgiveness related concepts and cognition of temperature words.There is a strong implicit connection effect between condoning concept words and warm words,and strong implicit connection effect between concept words and cold words.In Experiment 2,the subjects’offensive emotions were activated by Cyberball paradigm.Then,the subjects were perceived different temperatures by situational manipulation,and then the differences of forgiveness emotion levels were investigated under different temperature conditions.The experimental results showed that temperature perception could affect the individual forgiveness feeling,and the subjects with warm environment perception had higher forgiveness level than those who felt cold environment.The third experiment induced subjects to review the active or passive forgiveness or forgiveness experience in the past by mood induction method,and explore whether different emotional cognition can cause different individual temperature perception.The experimental results show that there is no significant difference between the perceived temperature and temperature preference in the context of forgiveness emotion cognition and the non forgiveness emotion cognitive situation.The results show that temperature and forgiveness emotion have implicit relationship not only in semantic level,but also in psychological representation.However,the co-occurrence of abstract concept and specific experience is asymmetric.Temperature perception will affect individual forgiveness emotion perception,and the information related to forgiveness emotion perception will not affect individual perception and preference for specific temperature.
