| Chi Zijian is a representative writer of contemporary literature who writes about everyday life. For more than thirty years, she has been focusing on the realm of everyday life, and with enthusiasm and sincerity, she has been concerned with the realities and emotional movements of ordinary people in their daily lives. The writer recounts the warmth and interest of mundane life, without glossing over the sinfulness and vileness of human nature, and uses simple and poetic language to tell the story of all living beings.Based on a close reading of Chi’s novels, this thesis examines Chi’s fictional creations from the perspective of everyday narratives.Combined with the theory of everyday life,it compares the narratives of everyday life in Chi’s novels. On the realistic level, the three types of characters in Chi’s daily life narratives are explored, including the natural and dynamic world of children, the bitter and warm life of ordinary people, and the mournful and clarifying life of foreigners;on the historical level, the historical memories of family, nation and people in his daily life narratives are collated, thus recreating the warm daily life of family history, the vivid daily life of grand history and the mysterious daily life of foreign history.Through a dual exploration of reality and history in Chi’s novels,we summarise the spiritual implications hidden in the writer’s narrative of the human heart and humanity in everyday life,as well as the history of the family, the nation and the people. This is to say that the writer believes in a simple life, calls for the return of divinity in order to regain respect for all living things, and holds on to love and goodness in the midst of human entanglements. In addition,in terms of artistic form, the "last" story mode, the fluid narrative perspective and the aesthetic imagery of life in Chi’s novels are analysed to discover the characteristics of the poetic construction of Chi’s daily life narratives. |
