Interpersonal emotion regulation referred to the process by which individuals intentionally influence their own or others’ emotions through social interaction.Previous research has focused more on regulating other people’s emotions through social interaction, and less on regulating one’s own emotions through social interaction, and did not thoroughly investigate different individuals(such as people with different attachment types)in different situations(such as sad and anger scene)use of differences interpersonal emotion regulation strategies. This article examined the differences in the interpersonal emotion regulation strategies used by individuals of different attachment types in sad and anger scene, and achieve the purpose of the research through three studies.Study 1 was aimed to revise the measurement tool for interpersonal emotion regulation strategies;Study 2 used correlation methods to explore the differences in the use of interpersonal emotion regulation strategies of individuals with different traits of attachment;Study 3 usesd experimental methods to explore the differences in the use of interpersonal emotion regulation strategies in sadness and anger emotion scene under different states of attachment priming.Study 1: There was no measurement tool for interpersonal emotion regulation strategies in China, especially for the group of higher vocational students. This study mainly translates and revises foreign interpersonal emotion regulation questionnaires to facilitate the measurement of variables in subsequent studies. With 380 students as the participants, the reliability and validity of the questionnaire were found to be good. The confirmatory factor analysis found that the four-factor model can fit the data, which was consistent with the original scale model hypothesis. It contained four dimensions: Enhancing Positive Affect,Perspective Taking,Soothing and Social Modeling. These results indicated that this questionnaire can be used as a measurement tool for follow-up research.Study 2: In order to explore the differences in the use of interpersonal emotion regulation strategies of individuals with different traits of attachment, the Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory was used to measure attachment. The Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory contained two dimensions: attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance. The higher the score, the higher the degree of attachment anxiety(avoidance).Interpersonal emotion regulation strategies are measured by the Interpersonal Emotion Regulation Questionnaire. The higher the score, the more interpersonal emotion regulation strategies are used.We selected 380 students as participants for the test. After the test, correlation analysis and regression analysis were used to explore the differences in the use of interpersonal emotion regulation strategies among individuals with different traits attachment. The results showed that the attachment avoidance score can negatively predict the use of interpersonal emotion regulation strategies, and the attachment anxiety score can positively predict the use of interpersonal emotion regulation strategies.Study 3: In order to better compare the effects of state attachment priming on interpersonal emotion regulation strategies, this study added the dimension of attachment safety based on the two dimensions of attachment anxiety and avoidance, and used 3(Attachment Priming: Safety vs Anxiety vs Avoidance)×2(Emotional Scene: Sadness vs.Anger)Two factors between subjects design.Attachment priming and emotional scene were both inter-subject factors.Because the interpersonal emotion regulation questionnaire measures in negative emotional scene, the strategies included Perspective Taking,Soothing and Social Modeling the three-dimensional strategies and the model did not include the dimensional strategy of Enhancing Positive Affect,so the dependent variable was a simplified questionnaire containing three dimensions. In this experiment,200 participants were selected as the experimental participants. The results found that:(1)The main effect of attachment priming was significant. The participants in the attachment safety priming group had the highest scores on interpersonal emotion regulation strategies, followed by the attachment anxiety priming group, and the attachment avoidance priming group the lowest.(2)The main effect of the emotional scene was significant, and the interpersonal emotion regulation strategy score of the participants in the sad scene was higher than that in the angry scene.(3)The interaction effect was significant. In the sad scene, participants in the attachment safety priming group scored the highest on interpersonal emotion regulation strategies, followed by the attachment anxiety priming group, and the attachment avoidance priming group the lowest. In the anger scene, participants in the attachment safety priming group scored the highest on interpersonal emotion regulation strategies, while the differences between the other two groups were not significant.Based on the above research, the following conclusions are obtained:(1)The Interpersonal Emotion Regulation Questionnaire contained four dimensions: Enhancing Positive Affect,Perspective Taking,Soothing and Social Modeling. The structure was consistent with the original foreign questionnaire and has cross-cultural consistency.(2)There were differences in the use of interpersonal emotion regulation strategies among different attachment individuals.Among them, attachment safety individuals used the most interpersonal emotion regulation strategies, followed by attachment anxiety, and attachment avoidance the least.(3)There were differences in the use of interpersonal emotion regulation strategies in different emotional scene.Individuals used more interpersonal emotion regulation strategies in sad scene than in angry scene.(4)The use of individual interpersonal emotion regulation strategies under attachment priming varied with the emotional scene. In sadness scene, attachment safety individuals used the most interpersonal emotion regulation strategies, followed by attachment anxiety, and attachment avoidance the least;in anger scene, attachment safety individuals used the most interpersonal emotion regulation strategies, and there is no difference between attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance individuals.
