| The COVID-19 is the most serious pandemic in the world in a century.In the face of the epidemic,medical workers are fighting on the front line of the battle against the epidemic.The documentary Doctor 2020 selected in this practice report mainly introduces the efforts and contributions of several medical workers in order to heal the wounded and resuce the dying and fight the epidemic.Taking this documentary as the translation practice material can convey the national strength and spirit of the Chinese people in the face of the epidemic to the world.The material selected for this simulating Chinese-English consecutive interpreting practice is the first two episodes.Through the analysis of the features of the text,there are many interview speeches and dialogues in the documentary selected in this simulating Chinese-English consecutive interpreting practice.Most of them are structurally imcomplete sentences and short sentences with imcomplete grammatical structure,and the logical relationship and semantic focus are not prominent.At the same time,medical terms and idioms are frequently used in the material.These have brought certain difficulties to the practice of simulated continuous transmission,leading to improper pauses in the interpretation.In this translation practice,improper pauses are mainly manifested in improper filling words caused by difficulty in choice of words,improper repetition caused by difficulty in identifying note-taking,sentence error initiation caused by weak information screening ability,and repeated corrections caused by difficulty in understanding the logic of source language.Full preparation of medical professional terminology before interpretation and reasonable use of free translation in interpretation to deal with idioms can effectively solve the improper filling words caused by difficulty in choice of words;suitable note-taking system and reasonable allocation of note-taking energy can solve the improper repetition caused by difficulty in identifying note-taking;reasonable prediction based on context,reasonable segmentation and pause of the sense group,the linear translation and the deletion of redundant information can solve the repeated corrections caused by difficulty in understanding the logic of source language.It is hoped that the strategies for dealing with improper pauses proposed in this thesis can be used as a reference for the subsequent transmission of medical documentaries. |
