Music and speech as two highly complex auditory systems, can represent phonological features by same parameter at once, share some basic neural circuits and processing mechanisms.Recently, some researchers began to pay attention to how music training can influence speech processing and some of them care about the cross-domain priming effect of music. This thesis uses ERPs and priming paradigm to explore the influence of music training and different types of sound stimulation on listener’s processing of the boundaries of prosody and the neural processing of prosody priming and explore the adjustment of experimental tasks in this process effect. In Experiment 1,the music group and the control group were asked to complete lexical judgment task and the construction judgment task.In Experiment 1,we found that in the100-500 ms time window, the music group and the control group induced CPS which reflects prosodic phrasing indiscriminately when processing the boundaries of ambiguous phrases. In the target phrases, only when the music group processed them, the amplitude of CPS was significantly attenuated, resulting in a significant prosodic priming effect, and this effect was affected by the task and phrase structure. In Experiment 2,based on Experiment 1,the priming phrases were changed to beats and piano music, and the target phrases were kept as ambiguous phrases. We asked participants to listen carefully and complete lexical judgment task. The experimental results show that beat or music stimulation cannot produce priming effect on Chinese ambiguous phrases. This may be due to the complex experimental materials and passive experimental tasks. However,we found N1 and P2 components at the boundary of priming ambiguous phrase, and the music stimulus induced N1 and P2 with larger amplitude. In conclusion, this thesis uses Chinese ambiguous phrases as experimental materials and uses EEG technology to investigate the influence of different tasks, music training and different types of stimulus materials on the cognitive neural process of prosodic processing of ambiguous phrases. The results show that music training can promote the processing of prosodic boundary in the language, and can elicit stable priming effect, and the experimental task and phrase structure can also affect prosodic priming. This suggests that music training can affect speech prosodic processing across domains. The obvious prosodic priming effect of music group may be because it is more sensitive to various acoustic parameters of boundary processing, and the activated phonological template is more stable or can predict the target item structure more accurately when processing priming items. In addition, although beat and musical stimulation cannot produce stable priming effect on ambiguous phrases, the listener will automatically process the internal boundaries of these materials. In the future,we can use the task, which asks participants to focus on the boundary actively to investigate the cognitive neural processes in which music and beats affect the processing of ambiguous phrases. |
