Discussions On The Ideals Of Zeng Zi’s Filial Piety

Zengzi advocates filial piety as the basis.This paper discusses the thought of Zengzi’s filial piety through three parts.On the basis of Confucius,Zengzi put forward three ideological dimensions of "filial piety".First,filial piety is the eternal law of social life,which is the great book of heaven and earth.Second,filial piety is the fundamental of moral indoctrination,which makes norms for people to live a good moral life,and third,filial piety is the inner source of individual virtue,and other spiritual qualities are born by it.The second part mainly discusses Zengzi’s inheritance and development of the idea of Confucius at three practical levels,including: at the individual level,because of the life and body given by grateful parents,so practice filial piety to cherish their own body,do not forget their relatives;Then put forward that the practice of filial piety should pursue the realm is "respect for relatives",especially in the death of the event to do "to salute" funeral sacrifice;Unlike the first two parts of penetration analysis of Zengzi’s inheritance and development of Confucius’ filial piety,the third part analyzes the enlightening influence of Zengzi’s thought of filial piety on Mencius,as well as the enlightenment to contemporary social life.
