Superhero films have gained increasing popularity in recent years in the film market, attracting a large number of loyal audiences.Superhero comics is a creation of U.S.therefore the superheroes in the stories represent to some degree the social culture and mainstream ideology of America.Technological evolution has rendered the upgrading from 2-D cartoon to 3-D movie possible, greatly enriching its visual expressiveness, adding to its artistic appeal and enhancing the stereoscopic and plastic image of its characters.Comics, which used to be a non-mainstream special form of narrative, after being adapted into TV series, games and films, gradually lose its resistant sub-culture elements and become incorporated by dominant culture, transforming into mass consumer goods with superhero films as hot products.“Harley Quinn---The Joker”,a well-loved “villain character” of Detective Comics,is an unconscious expression of youth subculture manifested in the superhero text.In transmedia narratives,it takes on a variety of images in different forms of discourse. In the re-creating process of visual arts, changes in social culture and consumption structure, replacement of creator, audience preference, market demand expansion and media convergence are all possible factors that lead to the evolution of "Harley Quinn’s" image. From both the commercial perspective and ideological viewpoint, there exists a connection of incorporation and anti-incorporation between the superhero subculture represented by "Harley Quinn" and the mass consumer culture. This paper will conduct a study in three chapters, with the image of "Harley Quinn" created by Detective Comics in its superhero films as the main research object,to analyze the styles and ways of shaping character figures, personalities, and relations in various medias and texts. The paper will also examine the themes displayed by characters under the influence of different audience needs to explore the evolution of character images in texts of distinctive commercial and ideological traits from the perspective of feminism theories and ethnic cultural diversity.
