In the period of Pingcheng,Xianbei initiated and completed the dominion of unifying the north, which occupied an important position in the history of the Northern Wei Dynasty. The unprecedented ethnic amalgamation also played an important role in the history of China. In addition, its planning in the history of the development of the capital also left a heavy color. In the construction layout of the city wall and sacrificial ceremony,it retains its own ethnic characteristics. In the process of construction,it actively absorbed the characteristics of Luoyang,Ye and other Han metropolises. Finally, the unique system of three capitals was formed, which directly influenced the shape and structure of the capitals of later generations. Therefore, the research on it has positive practical significance and theoretical value in all aspects.Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, with the continuous enrichment of archaeological data, more and more scholars have studied it.The academic research focuses on the palace architecture and its layout, the shape and structure of the capital, the construction process, the Silk Road and other aspects. The research content is greatly enriched, but there are some problems at the same time. The layout of streets in the city, the external line network attention less.Accordingly, this paper mainly discusses the internal and external traffic of Pingcheng. The balanced development of a city requires a sound road network. As a capital city,it will be more demanding. After making Pingcheng the capital, the Tuoba government paid a lot of efforts for road construction. In the process of urban construction,a three-level route system of road, street and winding lane is formed. The highest level of road is macroscopically symmetrical, while the street and winding lane are different in density and width due to the different class attributes of the inner residents. In addition, the external route is also an indispensable part of the transportation system, which is divided into the northern Silk Road with Pingcheng as the center and other radiating routes. On the basis of inheriting the Han Dynasty, the Silk Road in this period had new development.Other important routes of external radiation mainly lead to Hebei Plain,Mobei, and Jiangnan and other regions.Convenient transportation inside and outside the city helped accelerate the formation of political unity, economic prosperity and cultural diversity in the Northern Wei Dynasty. The re-opening of the Silk Road led to a climax of trade between the East and the West. Not only bring western culture, but also for Pingcheng to import rich property,to build it into an international metropolis to provide sufficient conditions.Other routes also had significant political and military implications, which played a positive role in pacifying local residents and responding to the aggression of the Roran and the Southern Dynasties.Relatively perfect road system enables Pingcheng to successfully complete the transition task under the premise that its own conditions are not enough to shoulder the important task of national capital.Supporting the Northern Wei gradually strong, and finally make it smooth transfer to the central plains of the heart-Luoyang.
