Japan is the edge of the East Asia because of the island topography.And Janpen has been learning from China,because China created the system of tributary trade.However,with the development of Japan’s own culture and the Western culture’s influence,Japan’s self-consciousness awakened.Since modern times,Japen has gradually embarked on the road of aggression.As an important part of the study of the relationship between China and Japan in ancient times,the issue of Yamatai has gained more attention.The first chapter is mainly introduct the brith of the Yamatai problem.The first section is an analysis of the reasons why the problem of Yamatai is valued,review the birth,and intial the development history of the “Yamato view”and “Kyushu view”,and then analyze the influence of the social background at that time.Secondly,it introduces Naka Michiyo’s Chronological research and the controversy about the identity of Himiko.Besides,it introduces the research of traditional Sinologists’ scholars of the same era.The second chapter reviews Shiratori Kurakichi’s upbringing,especially the influence of Historiography of Ranke.The next section is mainly analyze the Yamatai research of Shiratori Kurakichi,which reflects the advanced historical methods and the understanding of the situation of Ancient East Asia.Finally,it compares his study on the ancient of Japan with the studies of China.Then,it points out that the reason for his bias because of Kokutai theory,and explains the relevance between State system and studies.The third chapter selects Naito Konan as the research object.Firstly,it analyzes the influence of politics and religion society during his works,as well as descriptions his deeply understanding of China and Korea during his travel as a reporter.Secondly,it analyzes the research characteristics of "Positive Historiography" which is different from Shiratori’s in the study of Naito,and explores the influence of Chinese historiography’s affect.Finally,combined with Naito’s view of China-Japan’ relations,analyzing Naito’s views on Modern East Asia and deconstructing the aggressive attitude embodied in his studies of”Shina”.The last chapter is the expansion of historians’ research under the influence of Shiratori and Naito.In addition,it introduce Archaeological Studies about the Gold seal.Finally,the study of historical materialism discusses the social formation of the state of Yamatai,which breaks through the shackles of imperialism and develops new ideas.
