With the continuous advancement of “the Belt and Road” initiative,the Chinese government has issued policies and measures to support Yunnan Province in speeding up access to infcenters in South and Southeast Asia.The establishment of Yunnan-Thailand Vocational Education Union and the convening of the Yunnan-Thailand Vocational Education Cooperation Sub-forum have complied with the general trend.It has actively propelled the exchange and cooperation of international vocational education and promoted healthy development of relations between the two countries.This report is based on the author’s simulated interpreting practice of the YunnanThailand Vocational Education Cooperation Sub-forum conducted in June,2020.Inspired by the Adaptive Control of Thought proposed by John Anderson,the author uses the sub-forum as an example to illustrate the theory is not only used in the second language acquisition but also in the interpreting practice,and how to effectively program declarative knowledge into procedural knowledge and strives to reach the automation period in the three stages of skills acquisition of interpreting practice.This report is composed of five parts.The first part introduces the background and source of this forum and analyzes the features of this interpreting task.The second part expounds the preparation stage,implementation stage,post-interpreting reflections and error analysis upon the interpreting task.The third part introduces the Adaptive Control of Thought and its application in relevant fields.The fourth part is the case study.Examples are used to analyze how declarative knowledge is programmed into procedural knowledge,and finally acquire the interpreting skills in the three stages.Part five is a summary which includes difficulties encountered,and experience got from the simulated interpreting practice,as well as suggestions for future practitioners.The author hopes that suggestions and experience shared in this report will give some inspiration to other interpreting learners. |
