| This is a translation project report on The Future Earth: A Radical Vision for What’s Possible in the Age of Warming by Eric Holthaus,of which Chapter 3 2030-2040 : Radical Stewardship is the source text.The chapter mainly describes the environmental crises that human beings may encounter in the future,and puts forward practical solutions to these crises.The main contents of this report are divided into five chapters.Chapter One is the translation project description,including the project background,significance and structure.Chapter Two is the analysis of the source text,including a brief introduction to the author,main contents and linguistic features of the source text.information of the source text.Chapter Three describes the outline of Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence theory and its practical combination with this translation project.Chapter Four enumerates difficulties encountered in the translating and corresponding solutions.There are three translation difficulties including the translation of semi-technical terms,complex sentences and parentheses.In an attempt to deal with these problems,the translator made efforts with various translation methods and skills such as literal translation,division and omission.Chapter Five concludes with the lessons,implications and unsolved problems in the translation project.It is hoped that this translation practice will help people deepen their understanding of the environmental problems and provide some reference value for future translation studies of such informative texts. |
