Research On The Design Of Artist’s Book Based On Visual Culture Of Jia Ma

In recent years,the excavation of intangible cultural heritage and the supplement of the list have not stopped,which reflects people’s attention to the traditional national culture,and the government’s protection and attention to the national culture.The research on the intangible cultural heritage Jia Ma should not be limited to the collection,record and collation of materials.As a form of both artistic and cultural,Artist’s Book are the carrier suitable for re-design of the folk handicraft with strong pattern and certain cultural value.Modern Artist’s Book design needs to explore experimental materials and new directions of the time,as well as look back to tradition for inspiration.Starting from the design and application of the element symbols of the intangible cultural heritage Jia Ma in the form of Artist’s Book,this paper explores the unity of form and content in the form design of Artist’s Book while providing a kind of design activation thought for the innovative inheritance of intangible cultural heritage.The idea of this paper is as follows: collect data in the early stage.On the one hand,the pattern data related to Jia Ma were collected and classified.On the other hand,the literature and research papers which related to the topic were collected to understand the research situation in the field of Jia Ma and Artist’s Book.In the middle period,Jia Ma pattern is analyzed from the perspective of visual culture,and Jia Ma is regarded as element symbol.Based on the framework of Pierce Semiotics,Jia Ma symbol is classified and its denotation is interpreted,so as to extract Jia Ma visual element symbol.At the same time,the form of Artist’s Book is analyzed.Sorted out the cases of Artist’s Book,learned it’s expression through the cases,and summarized it’s characteristics.In the later stage,the visual elements of Jia Ma will be combined with Artist’s Book,and the design of Artist’s Book will be carried out with the content of Jia Ma culture.Including Artist’s Book content arrangement,pattern and font design,layout expression,material use,manual binding and some derivative design.It’s hoped that through the research of the topic,combined with the design expression methods and elements extracted from the visual language of Jia Ma,the relationship between form and content in the form design of Artist’s Book can be explored in a beneficial experiment.
