A Narrative Study Of Musical Documentaries

In many categories of documentary,the history of music documentary is relatively short,and its rise closely relate to the prosperity and development of western rock music.In this paper,the graduation work Evanescent River as the analysis object,focusing on the narrative research of music documentary.The study of narratology is divided into two main parts,one is the study of narrative structure,the other is the study of narrative discourse.The former mainly focuses on the internal logic and structure of the plot,while the latter focuses on the narrative behavior,focusing on the various forms of expression and discourse skills of a narrative work.Based on the theory of Narrative Discourse written by French narratology researcher Gerard Genette,this paper expounds the graduation work The Evanescent River from the perspective of documentary narrative structure and narrative discourse.The first chapter from the research background,the research present situation,the theory significance and the practice significance carries on the whole summary to the music class documentary film,carries on the brief narration to the heavy metal music;The second chapter States the narrative discourse of the music documentary from the narrative content and the narrative angle of view in the graduation work,and classifies the narrators in the graduation work The Evanescent River with Gérard Genette’s theory-narrator type;The third chapter takes Roland Barthes’ s Introduction to the Structural Analysis of Narrative Works as the theory,starting from the elements of narrative structure,to analyze the structure of his graduation work The Evanescent River;The fourth chapter analyzes the narrative language of the film and television by using the theory of narratology of Gérard Genette and his graduation work The Evanescent River;The fifth chapter elaborates the artistic rhetoric skills of The Evanescent River from three aspects: intertextuality,blank space and defamiliarization.
