The book of Er Ya is an dictionary.It was first classified by word meaning.It explains a lot of ancient Chinese vocabulary,including common words and encyclopedia words.These words involve many aspects and let us see a rich picture of ancient society.Therefore,scholars of all dynasties and generations have studied Er Ya in the spirit of “being not confused”,among them,the Er Ya Zhu written by Guo Pu in the Jin Dynasty topped the world,It has established a strong position in various annotated books,demonstrates its own unique advantages.Social instability during the Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern Dynasties,the interpenetration of many cultures,formed a free academic atmosphere.The language of this period played a role in linking the past and the future in the history of Chinese,tooked on a new look.Guo Pu researched Er Ya from the perspectives of exegetics and lexicology,so that we can grasp the meaning of ancient Chinese words in depth,understand exegetical activities,and understand the face of language development in the Jin Dynasty.This article mainly focuses on the animal chapters in Guo Pu’s annotation of Er Ya,It includes five content: shi chong,shi yu,shi niao,shi shou,shi xv.It uses lexical,exegetical and other methods for in-depth analysis.Its main content has the following these aspects:The first part is to introduce Guo Pu and his Er Ya Zhu.This article collects literature before and after modern times,sorts out the research status of Guo Pu’s Er Ya Zhu.And on the basis of clarifying the significance of this article,explain the methods used in writing.In the Second part,combined with Guang Ya,Shan Hai Jing,Shuo Wen Jie Zi and other ancient books to study Guo Pu’s annotation terminology and style when annotating animal words in Er Ya.There are seven types of annotated terms: one are “Hu”“Su Hu”;two are “Bie Ming”“Yi Ming”“Yi Ming”“Yi Yue”“Yi Hu”;three are “Gu Yue”“Yin Ming Yun”;four is“You”;five are “Shu”“Lei”;six is “Zhuan Xiang Jie”;seven is“Yin”.There are four annotated styles:quoting ancient books as an annotation,quoting previous opinions as an annotation,quoting historical facts as an annotation,quoting unearthed documents as an annotation.In the third part,analyze Guo Pu’s annotation on animal words in Er Ya from two aspects: seeking common ground and distinguishing difference.Seeking common ground is to confirm the synonymous relationship between the two words in the same structure in the animal words of Er Ya.And use Jin Dynasty common words,dialect words,colloquial words to annotate,so as to achieve the unified effect of theory and practice.Distinguishing differences is to distinguish the differences between the synonym of the same structure in Er Ya from different angles,It uses this to analyze the meaning of words in a comprehensive and in-depth manner.In the fourth part,determine the criteria for identifying Guo Pu’s words and phrases,and quantify the number and distribution of these animal words.On this basis,combined with documentary evidence and to clarify the meaning and structure of Guo Pu’s words and phrases.Animal words in Er Ya Zhu are divided into monosyllabic words and polysyllabic words.Monosyllabic words are uncommon.After the definition of polysyllabic words,according to Mr.Zhao Keqin’s point of view,it is divided into simple words and compound words.Simple words include continuous words and repetitive words,compound words are composed of coordinated polysyllabic words and master-subordinate polysyllabic words.At the same time,there are also some multi-syllable words.Besides,there is also a special case,ancient exegetical experts disputed the style of animal words in Er Ya,and showed a different understanding from Guo Pu,so doubtful words appeared in Guo Pu’s annotation.In the fifth part,summarize the contributions and deficiencies of Guo Pu’s annotation on animal words in Er Ya.Contributions are: the first,used the method of “seeking meaning from the sound”;second,rich citations;third,examining and explaining the meaning of the word is wonderful;fourth,distinguish synonyms in depth.Deficiencies are:inheritance of previous opinions is not clear,insufficient research and theory,the views of scholars of the same generation do not mention.To sum up,we should see the achievements of Guo Pu’s annotation in all aspects,correctly understand its influence in the annotated books.
