| This paper mainly focuses on the reception of Yan Dan’s filial sIon image in Japan to figure out the reason why when Japanese emphasized Yan Dan’s filial piety story in literary works,which is rarely mentioned in Chinese classics.For a long time,the research on this issue mainly focused on the formation of Yan Dan’s filial piety story in The Tale of the Heike.However,to make the reception history of Yan Dan’s filial son image in Japan more clear,the origin of Yan Dan’s filial piety story in Japan and how they developed that story in later woks still need to be further discussed.The first chapter mainly summarized the research results of previous scholars and pointed the issues that need to be further discussed.It can be seen that The Tale of the Heike kept the story’s original frame of Yan Danzi,and drew on the experiences of Yan Dan’s filial piety story from Japanese Tales from Times Porst.However,there are still some issues that need to be further discussed,such as "Why Yan Dan is well kown as a filial son in Japan?","Is there any cultural reason why the filial son image be widely spread in Japan?",etc.The second chapter mainly focused on the origin of Yan Dan’s filial piety story in Japanese Tales from Times.First,Due to the need of promoting filial piety,Yan Dan was regarded as a model of filial son and his story was disseminated through Buddhism-related works and sermons presided over by Ankyoin Buddhists at the end of the Ping An era.Secondly,the origin of Yan Dan’s filial piety story in Japanese Tales from Times Past might refer to the Chinese literature Tales in later Spring and Autumn period written by Kong Yan finished around 300 AD.The third chapter mainly focused on the original contents of Yan Dan’s filial piety story in The Tale of the Heike.It can be seen that the filial piety advocated in The Tale of the He.ike was influenced by Buddhism,especially Ankyoin Buddhists.By polishing Yan Dan’s filial piety story,The Tale of the Heike constructed "Fortune dominated by Tian"to weaken the contradiction between the fact of Yoritomo’s ictory and the prediction of Yoritomo’s failure.The fourth chapter focused on the reception of Yan Dan’s filial son image in later works.First of all,these books can be divided into literary works and Buddhism-related works by text types.Secondly,only The Tale of Crow and Egret and original contents to clarify the theme of "crow",basically the works after The Tale of the Heike didn’t add a new interpretation.Thirdly these works are mostly influenced by The Tale of the Heike or works before that,such as Japanese Tales from Times Past.In summary,it can be concluded that in Japan,due to the needs of p romoting filial piety,Yan Dan’s filial piety story was spread through Buddhism-related books and sermons.What’s more,The Tale of the Heike play’s a connecting role in the reception history of Yan Dan’s "filial son" image,by providing more contents and rich verbal expression for later works. |
