A Report On The E-C Translation Of At The Earth’s Core

At the Earth’s Core is an excellent science fiction and tells the story that a hero inheriting his father’s career and starting a journey to the center of the earth.Science fiction has gradually become a popular kind of literary work.It can not only broaden the readers’ imagination,but also cultivate readers of interest in science,thus the translation of science fiction has attracted more and more attention.In this paper,a science fiction,At the Earth’s Core,is taken as the carrier to explore the characteristics and translation methods of different types of attributive clauses.Attributive clauses usually consist of diversified structures and complex logical relationships in English.Based on functional equivalence theory,the translator analysed the structure and the meaning of the attributive clauses in the text.In this text,there are many attributive clauses with different structures and conjunctions.The restrictive attributive clauses and non-restrictive attributive clauses are both appear frequently in this text.Then the translator summed up three translation methods of attributive clauses,including translating Attributive Clauses into Pre-modifiers,translating Attributive Clauses into Adverbials and translating Attributive Clauses into Sub-clauses.
