On the basis of field investigation,this paper takes the Buddhist stone statues of the Southern Dynasty in Sichuan as the research object,on the basis of previous studies,through typology,image comparison method and other research methods,respectively,the unearthed situation,types and ages,regional characteristics and the origin of style of the Southern Dynasty statues unearthed in Sichuan are discussed in detail.The Buddhist stone statues of the Southern Dynasty in Sichuan are divided into nine types,from A to I,and each type is divided into several types according to the relationship between early and late,to explore various evolution trends.Through the dating of the statue to research the undating of the statue.According to the changes of the stone statues of the Southern Dynasty in Sichuan,it can be divided into five periods.The first period was from the 25 th year of Yuan Jia(448)to the first year of Qi Yongming(483).This period was the initial period of statues,with few numbers,simple patterns and rough features.The second period was from the first year of Qi Yongming(483)to the tenth year of Liang Tianjian(511).The third period was from the 10 th year of Liangtianjuan(511 years)to the 5th year of Zhongdatong(533 years).The number of statues increased,and the layout of backscreen statues appeared five statues and seven statues,which was the development period of Buddhist stone statues in Sichuan.The fourth period is from the fifth year of Liangzhongtong(533 years)to the second year of Tianzheng(553 years),with the appearance of double Lord and three Lord,bodhisattva wreaths becoming complex and exquisite.The fifth period is from the 2nd year of Liang Tianzheng(553)to the Northern Zhou and the 4th year of Liang Tianzheng(569).The trend of the artistic characteristics of the Southern Dynasty in Sichuan is as follows: the first and second periods were the initial period and the types and quantities of the statues were relatively small;The third period is the development period of the statue.The fourth period is the heyday and prosperity period,with rich types,styles and themes.The fifth phase is the stage of decline and formulation.The layout of stone statues in the Southern Dynasty in Sichuan ranged from three to thirteen,which was extremely rich.The Ashoka theme was the only one in Sichuan.Under the influence of gu kaizhi and lu tanwei,the statues in liu and song dynasties were characterized by "beautiful and clear",while in xiao qi and xiao liang dynasties,the statues were characterized by zhang sengyou’s "short and brilliant" style.The stone statues of the Southern Dynasty in Sichuan have multiple sources,obviously influenced by the gold and bronze Buddhas of the sixteen countries and the shrine statues of the Southern Dynasty.Monks who traveled overseas,Jiankang and Sichuan made contributions.The stone statues of the Southern Dynasty in Sichuan had a certain influence on the style of statues in Qingzhou.
