| The teaching effect of English vocabulary in our traditional class is not ideal and there are stills lots of problems.More attention has been paid to the memory of word meanings than the production of word,which results in learners’ receptive vocabulary far greater than the productive vocabulary.In addition,the students repeat the words after the teacher and learn them by rote in class,which makes students in a very passive state.In view of the above problems,many experts and scholars improve teaching methods in an active way.But the above problems have not been solved.Therefore,the author attempts to introduce the reading circle into the English class so that we can explore the influence of reading circle on vocabulary acquisition.In the reading circle,group members choose to reading materials independently,assign the member roles,make plans,make discussion regularly and present the results in class.In this process,the significance of the model is far beyond the reading level.It also has a significant impact on learners’ vocabulary acquisition.The reading circle is based on the discourse,which provides a full context for the understanding of words.Discussion in regular meetings provides a more authentic language environment for the input and output of words.In this process,students become the masters of learning and actively participate in vocabulary acquisition.Therefore,The author tries to apply the reading circle to English class in senior high schools to explore the influence of reading circle on the vocabulary acquisition.The problems to be solved in this study are as follows.(1)What is the influence of "reading circle" model on the size of receptive vocabulary of senior high school students?What is the influence of "reading circle" model on the size of productive vocabulary of senior high school students?Does the "reading circle" model promote the transformation of receptive vocabulary into productive vocabulary?(2)What is the influence of "reading circle" model on attitude towards vocabulary acquisition in senior high school students’ ?In order to answer the above questions,the author conducted experiments in the practice school.74 students are chosen from two parallel classes in the seventh grade.The paper combines qualitative research method with quantitative research method including test method,questionnaire survey method,interviewing method.After the experiment,the data collected during the experiment were sorted out and input into the SPSS22.0 statistical software for analysis.Finally,the following conclusions are drawn:reading circle can increase the size of the receptive vocabulary and productive vocabulary of the subjects;Reading circle can narrow the gap between receptive and productive words and improve the ratio of transference from receptive words to productive words.The reading circle can improve the attitude towards vocabulary learning. |
