By sorting out the main studies of postcolonial theories,this thesis discusses the cultural "self-colonization" of the Orientals under the influence of western cultural hegemony.In addition,this thesis also analyzes the Shanghai novels of the 1930 s and1990s,explores the cultural "self-colonization" reflected in them,and points out the necessity of conducting a separate study of cultural "self-colonization" in the context of globalization.The introduction clarifies the origin of this study,combs the research status of postcolonial theory in domestic and foreign academic circles,and puts forward the purpose and significance of this study.In the first chapter,the relevant concepts of post colonization are analyzed,and then the research status of cultural "self-colonization" in domestic academic circles is sorted out,and the main connotation of cultural "self-colonization" is clarified.In the second chapter,the author summarizes the major postcolonial theories of Franz Fanon,Edward Said,Gayatri C.Spivak,Homi K.Baba and Arif Dirlik,and discusses the cultural "self-colonization" of the Orientals under the influence of the Western cultural hegemony.In the third chapter,the author analyzes the representative Shanghai-style novels of the 1930 s and 1990 s,and explores the cultural "self-colonization" reflected in Shanghai-style novels in combination with relevant postcolonial theoretical research.In the fourth chapter,the author expounds the current situation of cultural "self-colonization" in contemporary China and points out the necessity of studying the problem of cultural "self-colonization" in the context of globalization.To sum up,this thesis aims to clarify the reality of cultural "self-colonization",and supplement the theoretical basis of cultural "self-colonization".In addition,it is hoped that through the study of this thesis,the domestic academic circle will pay more attention to the issue of cultural "self-colonization".
