The Effect Of Self Name On Conflict Processing

Using self-related information as task related and task independent,this study explored the effect of self name on conflict processing.Flanker task paradigm was used for experimental research.Experiment 1 was a 3 ×3(central word identity information)×3(peripheral word identity information)experimental design.The Flanker paradigm was used.The participants were asked to consider whether the central word and peripheral word were consistent or inconsistent in general.Experiment 2 consisted of a3(target word identity information)× 3(distractor word identity information)in-subject experiment design.The stimulus materials were the same as Experiment 1,and the subjects’ task was to ignore the upper and lower distractor stimuli and only pay attention to the identity familiarity or unfamiliarity of the central target stimulus.Experiment 3 was a 3(identity information)×2(consistency)in-subject design.The task of the subjects was to ignore the interference of upper and lower names and only pay attention to the color of the middle name.(1)In Experiment 1,self-related information was used as task-related stimulus,and peripheral words appeared in the focus of attention.The main effect of central word identity was significant.In RT/ACC,self was significantly smaller than friend,self was significantly smaller than stranger,and friend was significantly smaller than stranger.The main effect of peripheral word identity was significant,and in RT/ACC,self was significantly faster than friend,self was significantly faster than stranger,friend was significantly faster than stranger.The interaction between central word identity and peripheral word identity is also significant.The Flanker effect is present in both self and friends,but not in strangers.In experiment2,self-related information was used as task-related stimulus,and peripheral words appeared outside the focus of attention.The main effect of target was very significant,and the response rate of self was significantly smaller than that of friend,self was significantly smaller than stranger,stranger was significantly smaller than friend.There was no significant difference in the main effect of interfering words.The interaction between the main effect of target and the main effect of interfering words was significant.When self was used as the target word,it reacted faster and better,and suffered less interference compared with other names.When the self is a distraction,it has no effect on the completion of the character.In Experiment 3,self-related information was used as a task-independent stimulus,and peripheral words appeared outside the focus of attention.The main effect of identity was not significant,that is,there was no influence of self-related information on conflict processing.The main effect of consistency is extremely significant,and there is a significant Flanker effect.The interaction between identity and consistency is not significant.Self-name has no effect on conflict processing when it is a task-independent stimulus.When self-name was a task-related stimulus,self-name moderated conflict processing when peripheral words were in the focus of attention.When peripheral interfering words are outside the focus of attention,self is less affected than other names.
