| Ross(1969)was the first to put forward the theory of sluicing.Ross thought that sluicing is a small sentence composed of a interrogative word and an empty component. In previous studies, sluicing are divided into broad sense and narrow sense.Narrow-sense sluicing refers to the interrogative word/phrase,which is an ellipsis sentence with incomplete phonetic form. However, the author adopts a broad definition of sluicing. The sluicings mentioned in this paper are sentences containing antecedent clauses and sluicing clauses,in which antecedent clauses contain antecedent components and correlate components, while sluicing clauses contain interrogative words/phrases and elliptical components. This paper hopes to build a Chinese sluicing system based on interrogative words/phrases,and mainly explores the syntactic environment of sluicings from the semantic view, and discusses the following issues: syntactic components and semantic orientation of ellipsis components, the relationship between ellipsis components and interrogative phrases, the looming situation of correlate, the relationship between antecedents and correlate components, the relationship between antecedents and ellipsis components, the looming situation of "Shi",etc. |
