| From the perspective of semantic type of events, this research takes the eergative sentences in the BCC corpus generated by the verbs from International Curriculum for Chinese Language Education as the object, and uses the combination of description and interpretation, transformation analysis, and corpus analysis to investigate and analyze the semantic type of events of ergative sentences in modern Chinese.First of all, based on the establishment of the definition and judgment criteria of the ergative sentence, the verbs from the curriculum are used to search in the BCC corpus. The results show that the verbs which generate ergative sentences account for10%of the total verbs from the curriculum. This data can explain The degree to which modern Chinese tends to be a ergative-absolutive language.Secondly, when analyzing all the ergative sentences generated by the verbs from the curriculum, the“causal meaning”contained in the ergative sentences advocated by the predecessors is verified.Thirdly, when summarizing the semantic type of events represented by the ergative sentence in conjunction with Talmy’s macro-event theory,it is found that the ergative sentences in modern Chinese mainly represent event of state change and event of realization, and they have their own subcategories. Finally, this research combines the structure and semantic features of the verbs in the sentence and the semantic features of the core arguments to event of state change and event of realization to establish connections between them and explore the reasons behind the connections. This research combines Talmy’s macro-event theory with the study of ergative sentences, and provides a new perspective for the study of ergative phenomena in modern Chinese. The ergative sentences generated by the verbs from International Curriculum for Chinese Language Education are selected as the object, and the conclusions obtained can also be used by teachers and foreign students as a breakthrough to the Interpretation of"NP1+V+NP2"&"NP2+V"conversion sentence. |
