| With globalization sweeping the world,cross-border exchanges in various forms and broad fields of economy, trade, culture, and other aspects have prospered, the interpretation market. The shortage of interpreters faced by the increasing demand has caused many language learners to dive into the ocean of interpreting learning. In the process of conversion, interpreters need to encode and record the messages, and finally, combine the memory with decoding to restore the messages.Their ability to take notes can help translators reduce the burden of encoding and decoding, and produce a more effective and authentic response. However, when the interpreters fail to take or use their notes fluently, the quality of their interpretation will be greatly compromised both in content and delivery. This survey aims to discuss the note-taking fluency of the Class of 2019 and 2020 of MTI students in CFAU with the help of a revised version of Zhou and Dong’s fluency scale.Based on the questionnaire and follow-up interview results, the author found that the Grade1 students perform better than their seniors in 9 items, and in a general sense, the MTI students score the highest in Spacing Arrangements and the lowest in Systematicity. |
