With the deepening practice of ―Belt and Road Initiative‖,China needs to be known and heard more clearly.Counting as China‘s intangible cultural heritage,writing-paper embodies deep cultural deposits, among which The Decorated Writing-Paper of the Ten Bamboo Studio is a representative work of Hu Zhengyan that interprets the art of writing-paper perfectly with exquisite descriptive paintings.Augmented with the gonghua technique of blind-stamping,it is printed in multiple colors and decorative motifs which convey Chinese classic cultural stories, including furniture,landscapes,figures,etc..In this case, the translation of Iconography of The Decorated Writing-Paper of the Ten Bamboo Studio which illustrates the relative classic stories can be meaningful, for which the cross-cultural communication both in paintings and classics could be promoted with a trinity of paintings, meanings and English translation presented.Based on the translation practice, the author found that the translation of cultural images in the source text can be expounded more clearly through Lefevere‘s Rewriting Theory. Therefore, this translation report focuses on discussing the translation of cultural images, which is the prominent difficulty in the process of translation,in what ways is been rewritten under the manipulation of factors suggested by the Rewriting Theory. For this matter, case analysis is employed to analyze the relative items and some relevant strategies and methods are summarized to enlighten the process of translation practice. And by doing this, the author hopes to achieve a translation proper to accommodate the expectations of readership, offering some valuable references for other translators in this field. In addition,an emphasis on the cultural images, can avoid cultural loss and dislocation in the translation to a certain extent, which is more conducive to promoting the effectiveness of cross-cultural communication. This study has found that the Rewriting Theory can be feasible in explaining the translation of cultural images: under the manipulation of ideology, domestication and foreignisation strategies of translation have been employed to reflect the purpose of translation and the expectations of readers;under the manipulation of poetics, the rewriting style, the figures of speech and register have been thoroughly considered to render the artistic flavor of cultural images;in terms of patronage, the requirements of professionals and publishing house have been met to further advance the translation quality. This may provide a new research perspective for the translation of cultural images and consequently enrich the translation studies on Chinese classics.
