A Study Of The Legend Story Of Yang Seyan In Chongming

The story of Yang Seyan is a popular folk legend in Chongming area.In addition to the word of mouth,the image of Yang Seyan as an evil litigant once appeared in the series of books "the elites of swords and brushes" published by Shanghai major publishing houses in the period of the Republic of China.However,after the founding of the People’s Republic of China,when the story of Yang Seyan came into people’s sight again,he had become the representative of the sagacious figure folk story of the litigation class,and was included in the third batch of intangible cultural heritage list of Shanghai in 2011.The image evolution of Yang Seyan’s story spread in Chongming area,from a well-known evil litigator in the period of the Republic of China to now being recognized by the world as a witty character in Jianshe town of Chongming.Its evolution and inheritance reflect the remarkable characteristics of folk stories and folk literature.Through the study of Yang Seyan’s story,we can not only enrich the study of witty character stories,It also contributes to a deeper understanding of Chongming local folk culture.In the past,the relevant research on the story of Yang Seyan is relatively rare,and there is a lack of basic literature collation.Under the possible conditions,this paper makes a comprehensive collection of all the existing works and related books of Yang Seyan’s stories,and also makes a field survey of oral legends,and then combs them.On the basis of this study,a preliminary study was carried out and a paper was written.The first chapter of this paper introduces the general situation of the story,then analyzes the text and characteristics of the story,summarizes the main content of the story,the contact crowd and the activity area,so as to reveal the characteristics of various narrative types and the cultural customs contained in the story,and also analyzes the characteristics of the changes in the spread of the story.In the second chapter,it mainly introduces the character image of Yang Seyan and the reasons for its evolution.Yang Seyan has the compound characteristics of evil litigator and witty character,which is not only related to the historical and cultural background of the story spread,but also shows the image tension of folk legend characters.The fourth chapter further reveals the cultural implication of Yang’s story and its related research,and finds that Yang’s story has unique research value and social significance in the current social and literary background.For the inheritance of modern folk stories of witty characters,it is not only the inheritance of ancient folk culture,but also the carrier of promoting local new culture and customs.
