| Shi Fu,a famous Chinese composer,has become an important and influential composer in China’s modern era because of his natural and simple musical language and distinctive artistic style.In a musical career spanning more than half a century,his musical compositions have been in the fields of song,piano,opera,dance,and orchestral chamber music,all of which have yielded fruitful accomplishments that are rarely accomplished by composers of his generation.Shi Fu is also one of the composers in China whose roots are in the folk music of various ethnic minorities in Xinjiang.Especially in the song works,Xinjiang style themes occupy the composer’s main creative field,such as "Wahaha","Song of Herding Horses"," Please Wait a Second,Comrade of PLA","Snow Lotus","Song of Pamir","Kirgiz People Singing to Chairman Mao",etc.with Xinjiang folk songs as musical materials.And "Awazhguli"," Raising a Cup of Congratulation","Lark O Lark","Golden Grassland"," Chanting of a Bride" and "I Have a Wonderful Song" are Xinjiang style songs adapted by Shi Fu.These songs are sweet and fluent,elegant and popular,and are loved by people of all ethnic groups.In addition,Shi Fu’s song compositions did not only stop at western themes.After leaving Xinjiang,Shi Fu gradually expanded the themes and styles of his compositions,such as the art songs of ancient poems,"The Everlasting Love" and "There is a Beautiful Lady in the North";the songs for movies and TV,"I Wish I Were a Kingfisher Singing to You","I Wait" and " Spring Breeze Waltz";and the symphonic chorus,"Yellow River,Sun" and "Mulan Ci".These songs are known for their strong ethnic style,and their musical language is deeply rooted in folk music,and they have become an indispensable part of contemporary Chinese songs with their intimate and touching melodies and rich and diverse expressions.The driving force behind Shi Fu’s songwriting,whether original or rewritten,is still folk music.The diversity and complexity of folk music in turn give the songs their mysterious nature.In view of the quest for knowledge,this paper takes Shi Fu’s songwriting as the object of study,and tries to make a clear and definite arrangement of Shi Fu’s songwriting by analyzing the background,composing techniques and artistic characteristics of the works.The first chapter discusses the basic situation of Shi Fu’s songwriting,mainly discussing the history of Shi Fu’s songwriting and classifying his works in detail.The second chapter is a study of compositional techniques,which is the core of the paper,analyzing and studying various techniques used in the song works from various angles,such as melody,key modulation,rhythm,meter,and lyric,etc.The third chapter is a discussion of the artistic characteristics of songwriting,and through Shi Fu’s previous writings,a comprehensive analysis of his creative characteristics is presented in an attempt to grasp his overall creative thought from a macro perspective.In this paper,we try to make a contribution to the study of contemporary Chinese music by integrating the music itself with historical documents,and adding the study of the background and ideology of music composition while studying the composition techniques in depth. |
