Taking the African overseas students in Bohai University as the research object, this paper investigates the situation of Chinese learners’ Chinese cultural identity and Chinese learning motivation and analyzes the correlation between them,so as to explore the influence of individual factors of Chinese learners on cultural identity and learning motivation.Based on the study of second language learning motivation and cultural identity at home and abroad, the questionnaire of learning motivation and cultural identity was developed.Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the individual factors of the respondents.Secondly, comprehensive analysis was used to analyze the relationship between individual factors, learning motivation and cultural identity. Finally, correlation analysis was used to explore the correlation between overall cultural identity and overall learning motivation.Through the survey,it is found that African students have a higher overall recognition of Chinese culture, among which the spiritual and cultural recognition is the highest. And the longer they come to China, the higher their overall recognition of Chinese culture.Individual differences also have an impact on cultural identity. The learning motivation of African overseas students is at a high level, mainly instrumental motivation, and the learning motivation shows a trend of "strong--strong--decline to gentle" with the time of coming to China and the time of learning Chinese.Individual differences also have an impact on the strength of learning motivation. Finally,it is found that there is a strong correlation between the degree of cultural identity of overseas students and their learning motivation.According to the results of the study, suggestions are put forward from the perspectives of improving cultural identity and enhancing learning motivation in four aspects: teaching materials, teachers, teaching and school administration.
