Research On Lexicalization And Grammaticalization Of Compound Verb Adverbial Words “Wu+Nominal Morpheme”

This paper mainly focuses on the Lexicalization and Grammaticalization of Chinese compound verb adverbial word "Wu + nominal morpheme".From the 104 polysyllabic words in Meng Kai’s(2018)semantic conditions for the grammaticalization of polysyllabic verbs in modern Chinese,the three words of "Wu + nominal morpheme" which are grammaticalized from verbs to adverbs,namely "Wu Xin","Wu Yi" and "Wu Yuan",are selected.According to the part of speech and meaning of the three words determined by the authoritative Chinese dictionary and modern Chinese Dictionary(7th Edition),this paper explores the Lexicalization and grammaticalization process of the three disyllabic words "Wuxin","Wuyi" and "Wuyuan".The full text is divided into four parts.The first part is introduction.It mainly covers the research background,significance and methods of this paper,defines the core concepts of Lexicalization and grammaticalization,reviews the research status of Lexicalization and Grammaticalization of polysyllabic verbs at home and abroad,as well as makes it clear that the corpus of this paper comes from the corpus of the State Language Commission.It is clear that the corpus of this paper comes from the corpus of the State Language Commission.The second part includes the first chapter,which is the main part of the paper.The first chapter is the Lexicalization and Grammaticalization of the compound verb adverbial word "Wu + nominal morpheme",which investigates the Lexicalization and Grammaticalization of the three words "Wu Xin","Wu Yi" and "Wu Yuan".The lexicalization of "Wu Xin" began in the Sui and Tang Dynasties and was basically completed in the Song Dynasty,From the yuan and Ming Dynasties,the grammaticalization of "Wu Xin" began;The lexicalization of "Wu Yi" began in the Han Dynasty and completed in the Sui and Tang Dynasties,From the yuan and Ming Dynasties,the grammaticalization of "Wu Yi" began;The lexicalization of "Wu Yuan" began in the Wei and Jin Dynasties and was basically completed in the Song Dynasty,and began to be grammaticalized in the same time.The third part includes the second chapter and the third chapter.The second chapter analyzes the motivation mechanism of Lexicalization and Grammaticalization of compound verb adverbial word "Wu Xin","Wu Yi" and "Wu Yuan".There are two reasons: first,from the surface structure,the verb "Wu + nominal morpheme" is often in the position of adverbial,and the verb meaning gradually weakens,as well as the subcategory transformation of VP in "Wu + nominal morpheme + VP".Second,it is used frequently;There are three mechanisms: psychological mechanism of "chunking",reanalysis and expansion.The third chapter analyzes the overall characteristics of Lexicalization and Grammaticalization of compound verb adverbial word "Wu + nominal morpheme",namely unidirectionality,coexistence and imbalance.The fourth part is the conclusion of this paper.
