Reexamination Of Dilthey’s Experience Thought From The Perspective Of Embodied Cognition

Wilhelm Dilthey(1833-1911),a German philosopher,has a wide range of research fields,including philosophy,psychology,literature,aesthetics,music,education,etc.Because of Dilthey’s modest and cautious character,he accumulated a lot of research manuscripts before his death,but he was unwilling to publish them in a hurry.After his death,a large number of his philosophical thoughts were gradually known,which also made him lack of writing in the modern history of philosophy.The research object of this paper is Dilthey’s experience thought,which is a kind of cognitive cycle,namely "experience performance understanding",which is the theoretical basis and practical path for Dilthey to construct the system of spiritual science.Dilthey introduced the concept of life into his thought of experience.On the one hand,he made people feel the concern of his spiritual science for the flesh and blood people and the deep concern for life.On the other hand,he also made people have a deeper understanding of how personal life experience is integrated into the whole human spiritual world.The recent rise of embodied cognitive theory breaks the dilemma of traditional cognitive science,breaks through the limitation of separation of mind and body,and emphasizes the important role of body in cognitive process.A large number of empirical research results in neurology,linguistics,physiology and other fields have proved the close relationship between human body,mind and cognitive process.Through the literature review of Dilthey’s experience thought at home and abroad,it is found that due to the influence of Hermeneutics and linguistic turn,scholars at home and abroad mainly regard Dilthey as a connecting link between the past and the future of philosophical hermeneutic turn.The research on Dilthey’s experience thought mainly focuses on the concept of his epistemology and hermeneutics.Dilthey proposed that the fundamental purpose of the cognitive cycle of experience thought is to explain the process of how individual special experience sublimates into human universal knowledge.At the same time,according to the latest research results on implicit memory,embodied metaphor and mirror neurons in the second generation of embodied cognitive science,I realize that the core concepts of memory,language,concept,meaning and understanding emphasized in Dilthey’s experience thoughts are closely related to human body.Or it can be said that Dilthey’s experience thought is rooted in the body and contains the body thought.This is also the research idea of this paper,that is,to explore the convergence of Dilthey’s experience thought and embodied cognition theory,to reveal the embodied thought in Dilthey’s experience thought cognitive cycle,and then to evaluate the originality in Dilthey’s experience thought,to expand the research on Dilthey’s experience thought,and to infer that the emergence of body is the particularity of individual experience,to reach the whole human life The basis of somatization.The significance of this paper for the study of Dilthey’s experience theory lies in twoaspects: on the one hand,combining with the recent research results in embodied cognitive science,this paper jumps out of the previous barrier that most scholars only put Dilthey’s experience thought in epistemological hermeneutic research,and gives the proof and explanation of the superiority of Dilthey’s experience thought creation from the overlap of Dilthey’s experience thought and contemporary embodied cognitive theory Hair has a certain theoretical this paper is divided into four parts: the first part is the introduction,which describes the research background and significance of Dilthey’s experience thought,the research status of Dilthey’s experience thought and embodied cognitive theory at home and abroad,and the research ideas and methods of this paper.The second part is the elaboration of the theory of embodied cognition.Firstly,it introduces the development process of cognitive science from detached cognition to embodied cognition and the philosophical origin of embodied cognition theory.Then it expounds the representative viewpoints of embodied cognition theory at home and abroad from different angles.Finally,it introduces the research of implicit memory,conceptual metaphor,mirror neuron and other embodied cognition related to this paper in detail Research results.The third part is the elaboration of Dilthey’s experience thought and its embodied content.Firstly,it introduces the background of Dilthey’s experience thought,then according to the cognitive cycle of Dilthey’s experience thought,it introduces the connotation of experience,performance and understanding,and the overlap with the embodied cognitive theory.The fourth part is the reevaluation of Dilthey’s experience thought from the perspective of body.This paper compares and analyzes the overlap of Dilthey’s experience thought and embodied cognitive theory from three aspects: experience concept and implicit memory,performance content and conceptual metaphor,and understanding basis and mirror neuron,reveals the embodied thought contained in Dilthey’s experience thought cognitive cycle,and evaluates the creativity of Dilthey’s experience thought.
