Research On The Influence Of Pre-editing Strategies On Machine Translation

With the continuous development of technologies such as artificial intelligence,machine translation is also evolving.However,in order to obtain high-quality machine translations,human intervention is an essential part.In the strategies of improving the quality of machine translation,the research and application of post-editing is more detailed and extensive,while the study of the pre-editing strategy,which is equally important,is imperfect and not systematic.This paper focuses on the improvement of the quality of machine translation by pre-editing strategies.The author summarizes the pre-editing strategies from three levels: lexical,sentence and tools.The pre-editing strategies at the lexical level and the sentence level include pre-editing of terminology,pre-editing of proper nouns,adding annotations,adding sentence constituents,removal of sentence constituents,reorganization,and rewriting.The pre-editing strategies at the tools level include adding vertical corpus(domain-specific corpus)and adding human-computer interaction function in MT engine.The author also proves that the pre-editing strategy can improve the quality of machine translation through experiments.The significance of this research embraces two aspects: the theoretical significance and its application significance.In this paper,a total of 100 examples of literary text and non-literary texts are used to verify that the pre-editing strategy at the lexical level and the sentence level has an improved effect on the quality of machine translations,and the improvement effect is better on literary texts.It is also found that the automatic evaluation of translation represented by Shiyibao has certain defects and needs further optimization.At the end of the article,the author proposes that in order to obtain high-quality machine translation,we must first improve and increase the quality and quantity of parallel corpora.Secondly,we need to use multiple translation processing modes.Finally,MTI’s teaching must add and pay attention to the pre-editing and post-editing training for translators,and as a translator,one must understand the cutting-edge information,learn the latest technologies,and constantly improve themselves to adapt to the changing language service market.
