At present, from the perspective of basic perceptual and cognitive processing, exploring the causes of dyslexia has become a hot topic in this field. In recent years, researchers have found that children with dyslexia may have more basic visual attention processing deficits. On the basis of previous studies, this study further investigated whether the visual spatial attention ability of children with developmental dyslexia in the national common language(hereinafter referred to as Chinese characters)developed normally.A study of Developmental dyslexia children with Chinese characters, normal children matched with the physiological age of the dyslexia group and Normal children matching the reading level of the dyslexia group. The development of visual spatial attention ability of children with dyslexia was investigated from two aspects: visual attention span and visual spatial attention conversion: visual attention span and visual spatial attention conversion ability. The study consists of two parts: The first part compares three groups of children’s visual attention span by using a part-report task paradigm and a single-factor design. In the second part, using the classical attention-switching paradigm,a mixed experimental design of 3(subjects type: children with reading disabilities, children with physiological age matching, children with reading level matching)*2(stimulus presenting field: left field of vision, right field of vision)*3(cue condition: effective cue, invalid cue, wireless cable)was used to investigate whether there are differences in the three groups of children’s visual spatial attention conversion ability. The results showed that:(1)The results of study 1 showed that there was no significant difference in visual attention span scores between children with developmental dyslexia and the other two groups of normal children, and there was no defect or backward development in visual attention span scores. There was a significant grade difference in visual attention span scores of all children, showing a trend of developmental enhancement.(2)The results of study 2 showed that there was no significant difference in the task of visual spatial attention switching between developmental dyslexia and other two groups of normal children,i.e.,there was no "left visual field neglect".There was a significant difference in the grade of visual spatial attention switching between all children, which also showed a trend of developmental enhancement. The conclusions are as follows:(1)There is no lag or defect in the development of visual attention span and spatial attention conversion of children with developmental dyslexia of Chinese characters.(2)Like normal children, the visual attention span and spatial attention conversion of children with developmental dyslexia of Chinese characters increase with age.
