The goal of English teaching is to cultivate students’ ability to use language.However,there is a dilemma in English teaching in junior middle school.Students do not have enough opportunities of language input and practice.Based on this background,English teachers can not be confined to teaching materials.Along with the deep expansion of the new curriculum reform of basic education in China,first-line teachers should dare to construct new teaching texts,expand new teaching models,develop and implement expansive courses,and give students more opportunities for practical practice.After making a literature review on previous relevant domestic and foreign researchers,the thesis adopts the investigation method and the action research method.Based on the constructivism theory and the task-based teaching theory,this thesis aims to solve the following three problems:1.How to carry out the English Expansive Course of Classic English Cartoons ?2.Whether the course will stimulate students’ interest in learning English or not? 3.How to affect students’ ability of language communicative competence by applying Classic English Cartoons in English teaching?To figure out these three questions,the author first makes surveys of study interest and courses demand among students.The results show that students prefer English cartoons.That’s because it can be displayed in a multi-dimensional way,vivid learning materials,concise and easy words to understand,humorous animation content without losing educational significance.Therefore,the author develops the English Expansive Course of Classic English Cartoons and chooses the seventh grade students of his school as the research objects.In this research,the author uses "Pre-class:Preview lessons--set up study group;study course micro-class "," In-class:Teaching Guide--Cooperative Inquiry Study Group;Teaching Guide Supervision ","After-Class:evaluation--display group results;assessment of multiple evaluations." It is called "three steps six stages" teaching model which we use in the English Expansive Course for a school year.After comprehensive analysis,the following conclusions are obtained:1.Through the mode of “three steps and six stages” teaching,it can make the English Expansive Course carry out more effectively.2.It can stimulate students’ English learning interest more continuously by using the form of "colorful tasks".3.It can enhance students’ intercultural communicative competence by using the way of "character dialogue deduction".
