Report On C-E Translation Of The Album Of Intangible Cultural Heritages In Hebei Province(Excerpts)

Hebei is a cultural province with many intangible cultural heritages.These cultures are closely connected with the lives of the local people in Hebei and reflect their living habits and spiritual outlook.However,at present,most of the intangible cultural heritage in Hebei province has only Chinese materials.Although there are some English introduction of intangible cultural heritages,the content is too blunt,which is not conducive to the understanding of the target readers.Therefore,the translation of intangible cultural heritage texts needs to be explored.This report tries to discuss the translation techniques adoption in intangible cultural heritage texts with the case of 17 representative items of the Album of intangible cultural heritages in Hebei province to explore the applicability of the theory to the translation of intangible cultural heritage texts from the three aspects of Jef Verschueren’s adaptation theory: the linguistic structure adaptation,contextual adaptation and dynamic adaptation.The text contains a lot of culture-loaded words,classical Chinese and run-on sentence.After a comprehensive analysis of the target language countries culture and local folk culture distinctiveness,the translator adopt a serious of translation techniques,including literal translation,paraphrase and omission,transliteration plus explanation,literal translation plus footnotes and so on in an attempt to spread Hebei local culture,and at the same time call people to pay more attention to the regional culture and make some contributions to translations and researches of the same type texts.
