The novel The Yellow Storm is a milestone of Lao She’s difficult creative path, which marks his return to himself and to literary creation.Although the research results of this novel are infinite, there is still no system in the aspect of ethical narration.Throughout Lao She’s early novels,it is not difficult to find that ethics is an important theme of his creation, and extends a variety of narrative types, such as family ethics, social ethics, national ethics, etc.,which are particularly mature and profound in The Yellow Storm.First of all,in the aspect of peer ethics,Lao She shows changeable interpersonal relationship under against the backdrop of national unrest through sibling relationship with love and hate,as well as complex marriage relationship.Secondly,in the aspect of grandparents’ ethics, the author focuses on the family relations such as grandparents, fathers and sons,mother-in-law and daughter-in-law,awakens the educational significance of the family, and recovers the harmony and warmth. Finally,by depicting the neighborhood in the Hutong, the author shows the positive and negative neighborhood rules of "being good to the neighbor and beggar the neighbor",and extends from the people in cloth clothes to the nation-state,depicting the relationship between all ethnic groups in the time of national crisis and the reflection beyond each other. This novel shows the change of the author’s creative attitude, which is a complex mixture of ethical relations among individuals, families, societies and ethnic groups. It shows that the return of Chinese new literature to ethical understanding is a masterpiece to face up to Chinese traditional culture.
