In the report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized the significance and value of telling Chinese stories well.A true,three-dimensional,and comprehensive appearance of China on the international stage requires the support of Chinese culture.In order to tell the Chinese story well on an international and global communication platform,my country’s English education should also conform to the needs of the times,highlight the Chinese culture in education and teaching,and highlight the educating function of the English subject.To convey culture is inseparable from the key carrier of English textbooks.English textbooks focus on the cultures loaded by different languages,showing the differences in the deep structure of different cultures,namely the value orientation and the way of thinking.National cultural awareness enables students to draw nutrients from multiple cultures,develop a rational understanding of the Chinese nation’s culture and other cultures,and demonstrate the brilliant culture of their own nation in different cultures.Since September 2019,the new textbook of English for senior high schools(hereinafter referred to as the "new textbook")published by the "People’s Education Press has been revised in accordance with the requirements of the General High School English Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition)".The new textbooks have gradually highlighted the importance of culture.The new textbooks carry different cultural contents,not only involving the cultural cognition of the mother tongue and target language,but also showing the world culture as a whole.English textbooks convey not only the language characters of different cultures,but also the value system of multiple cultures.Under the infiltration of multiple cultures,high school students often face the problem of choosing which culture and the values it embodies as the creed of life.Senior high school English textbooks and their teaching can not only be used as texts of symbols,but also need to be further used as cultural tools to cultivate students’ national cultural consciousness and establish national cultural consciousness.Let students keep a clear understanding of local and foreign cultures at all times,maintain respect and confidence in national cultures in international exchanges,and understand and critically absorb foreign cultures.The change of new textbooks will inevitably make teachers’teaching break through the traditional teaching in the past to meet new challenges and requirements.Structural analysis of the cultural content involved in the new textbooks,and digging out language materials that reflect cultural consciousness in the textbooks can effectively guide teachers to understand the cultural connotation of the textbooks,and guide students to judge the cultural heritage of other countries on the basis of understanding their own national culture.However,due to factors such as uneven teachers’ cultural awareness and differences in the cultural background of the student population,it is easy to overlook or obscure the rich cultural resources in the teaching and learning process of new textbooks.Therefore,teachers are guided to fully explore and show the effects of high school English textbooks.The cultural value,giving full play to the "cultural people" function of English textbooks,has become the key to the realization of English textbooks to educate people.This article first explains the current dilemma of multicultural choices in our country,and on this basis,puts forward the necessary value and significance of cultivating students’ national cultural consciousness;combs the research ideas of predecessors in analyzing the cultural content of English textbooks,and discusses the domestic and foreign English textbooks Related research on cultural consciousness in China.Secondly,review the past and present of high school English textbooks,clarify that English textbooks have shifted from language knowledge to the development of national cultural awareness,explain the requirements and cultural classification of high school students’ cultural awareness,analyze the content of the new textbooks,and focus on the textbooks The cultural content makes an analysis of the conscious framework of national culture.Finally,based on the principle of convenience sampling,I interviewed the English teachers of the middle schools where I practiced to understand the teachers’difficulties in the process of promoting and using new textbooks.I actively listened to teachers’ speeches and provided reliable "text data" for the research of this article.After sorting out and comprehensively analyzing the teachers’ practical experience,it points out the current advantages and disadvantages of the new textbooks,and improves the current teaching.It is believed that teachers can only change the culturally conscious teaching expression in the English textbooks,extend the culturally conscious text resources in the textbooks,and highlight English The culturally conscious sense of picture in the classroom and the mission and ability to cultivate and inherit the Chinese culture enable the new textbooks to play a richer textual value,and to truly complete the educational mission of "telling Chinese stories" to the world.
