Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?is one of the masterpieces of the famous American science fiction writer Philip K Dick,and has been nominated for the "Nebula Award".It is favored by science fiction lovers all over the world,and has the reputation of "the foundational work of cyberpunk".The reasons why the novel has become a classic of science fiction in the world lie in the creative use of the role of "android" and the setting of the android as an artificial intelligent robot with the same appearance as human beings,which not only broadens the category of "robot",but also foresees the ethical confusion between human and artificial intelligence in the process of technological development.Firstly,This paper intends to use the Ethical Literary Criticism method to analyze the man-machine ethical crisis in "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?".The ethical confusion and ethical predicament are caused by the identity crisis.Secondly,this paper will Combine the theory of identity,post-humanism,western Marxism and other theories to construct the identity of human and artificial intelligence in the cyber age.Finally,explore a new human-computer ethical order with multiple wings.The thesis consists of three parts:introduction,text and conclusion.The text is divided into three chapters.The introduction part includes the life and creative career of Philip Dick,the reason for the topic of this thesis,and the Research status at home and abroad of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?.Translation and research status in China,the meaning and research methods of this thesis will also be presented in this part.The first chapter explains the ethical confusion and ethical predicament of man-machine in the cyber age.The dissolution of humanism and the blurring of the boundaries between mans and machines have led to the lack of human subjectivity.Androids with independent consciousness began to resist domination of human,and even broke the physical boundaries between man and machine through sex,which led "Golden Hunter" cannot kill the androids.This leads to a double ethical predicament:within human beings,should "people with special disabilities" whose genes are contaminated by nuclear radiation be treated as abandoned offspring in the process of human natural selection?When androids are trying to seek the right to live independently and even want to replace humans,where should humans go?The second chapter focuses on the origin of the man-machine ethical crisis,pointing out the man-machine ethical crisis is caused by the alienation of society,the anxiety of the androids,and the deconstruction of human identity.Firstly,the background of story is analyzed,and the social characteristics of the cyber age are summarized.Secondly,study the identity anxiety of androids.The android is the product of scientific selection,and the essence of android is a humanoid machine with intelligence,whose birth purpose is to liberate human labor.On the one hand,man use androids for colonization,and on the other hand,they are afraid of being hurt by the out-of-control androids.This"Frankenstein complex" makes the man-machine relationship become tense.Bionics have inevitably threatened human self-identity since their birth.With the continuous development of artificial intelligence technology,how to distinguish between humans and bionics has become a major problem in society.The third chapter discusses the construction of the identity and the reconstruction of man-machine ethical order in the Cyber age.People in the cyber age are no longer"people" in the traditional sense,but "cyborg" assimilated by science and technology.Cyborg’s identity is based on emphasizing the basic role of the body in cognition and mind and giving full play to the role of brain text in carrying human nature.On the other hand,although the subject consciousness of artificial intelligence has been awakened,it must be endowed with ethical consciousness for its electronic text if it wants to integrate into the human society.In the novel text,the most effective way to solve the crisis of man-machine ethical crisis is to explore a new human-machine ethics order,and construct a post-Mercer scientific and technological community and cyber-citizenship.Promote the establishment of a new society of human-machine mutual assistance and symbiosis through the abdication of anthropocentrism and the expansion of the definition of "life".The epilogue is a transverse review of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?.In this part,the author analyzes the characteristics and significance of Philip Dick’s science fiction creation in a longitudinal way.By writing about identity crisis and analyzing ethical predicament,Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?reflects and expands the definition of "human",on the other hand,it provides ethical guidance for the future development of artificial intelligence.
