In recent years,more and more researchers as practitioners start to note that progress feedback have great value regarding enhance clinicians’ performance and reduce the rate of deterioration.There have been a lot of research proved that client feedback could help to improve the effect of counseling.However,the current research is mostly concentrated in English-speaking-country dyad,and the domestic research has not yet becoming popular.According to the existed research,despite many proofs indicated that progerss feedback does help to improve the clinician’s performance,many clinicians just do not really use feedback information in their clinic work,which might create barrier to improve the outcome of psychotherapy.The progress feedback has been introduced to China for a while,and did the clinicians here used the feedback data properly is an important issue that worth to explore.And if they have employed it in their practice,how did they use those feedback data?For the way it has been used have tremendous impact on whether the clinician’s performance could be enhanced.Therefore,this research was focused on learning the clinicians’ attitude towards client feedback,and the way and features they have used it.By adopting a semi-structural interview,14 clinicians’view were collected.The research adopts a consensus and qualitative research method which conducted by three researchers.The result reveals that a few clinicians have experienced a shift of attitude towards the progress feedback,which from positive to negative.After the clinicians get the feedback,they tend to try to use it in their clinic work,and the way they positively use it,including(1)tracking the client’s progress;(2)confirming whether the score is consistent with the feeling in the consultation;(3)as understanding the client’s additional information;(4)adjusting to invest in the next consultation;(5)consider discussing with the client;(6)seek professional help;(7)work as a routine task;(8)face-to-face communication with the client.Also,some clinicians have experienced a negative attitude towards the client’s feedback at certain point,including(1)the inconspicuous use effect;(2)doubts about the validity of the measurement;(3)doubts about the authenticity of the parties’ fill-in;(4)belief that the feedback content has low variability;(5)no need to rely on feedback scales for information;(6)consideration of the parties’concerns;(7)Time limitation;(8)untimely feedback time;(9)vague feedback information;(10)lack of guidance.Finally,this article reflects on the limitations of this research regarding sampling,implementation process and research manners,and puts forward suggestions for future research.In the meanwhile,this research provides suggestions in clinical practice for the institutions or organizations that implement the progress feedback as a tool to implement the quality control.
