Abstract/Summary:
Grammatical competence plays a vital role in English communication, and it also has an important impact on English learning of high school students. In the implementation of grammar teaching, many teachers will adopt the method of peer pairing. The research on peer pairing at home and abroad involves many fields. When it comes to the implementation method and process, how to implement ways of pairing seems very important.Based on the three-dimensional grammar ability theory, this paper sets up different ways of pairing to teach English grammar, and studies the impact of different ways of pairing on the development of English grammatical competence of different types of high school students. The analysis aims to explore and solve the following three problems:1.Which one of homogeneous pairing and heterogeneous pairing has a more favorable impact on the development of English grammar ability of high school students?2.How do different ways of pairing affect the development of grammatical competence of students with strong grammatical competence?3.How do different ways of pairing affect the development of grammatical competence of students with weak grammatical competence? The research object selected in this experiment was 108 senior one students in the two classes taught by the author. In the course of the experiment, the author divided students into five groups based on their pre-test scores of grammatical competences:strong and weak pairing, weak and weak pairing, strong and weak pairing, independent learning(strong),and independent learning(weak).Strong and strong pairs as well as weak and weak pairs are homogeneous, and strong and weak pairs are heterogeneous. After one semester of grammar teaching, the students ’posttest scores were compared and SPSS 22.0 was used to analyze the impact of different ways of pairing on the development of grammatical competence of high school students. The experimental results found:1.The homogeneous pairing way is better than the heterogeneous pairing way;2.For students with strong grammatical competence, the strong and strong pairing way has a significant positive impact on the development of their grammatical competence, and the strong and weak pairing way has almost no effect on the development of their grammatical competence;3.For students with weak grammatical competence, the strong-weak pairing way has a significant negative impact on their grammatical competence development, and the weak-weak pairing way has no significant effect on their grammatical competence development.According to the experimental results, this article has the following suggestions for the use of peer pairing in the classroom:1.Strong and weak pairing should not be used in the teaching of English grammar;2.Strong and strong pairing should be used for students who have a good foundation in grammar so as to promote the development of their grammatical competence;3.For students with a poor grammatical competence foundation, they should be encouraged to think independently and consolidate the foundation.
