The Research On Chen Tingjing’s Poetics And Poetry Creation

Chen Tingjing has been living in Tai Ge for decades and has had an important influence on the trend of poetry during KangXi dynasty.This paper focuses on Chen Ting-jing’s poetics and poetry creation,and with Chen’s related poetry theory works and poetic prequel,discusses the characteristics of Chen Tingjing’s poetics and poetic concepts under the influence of the dual status of Taige’s re-minister and literary writer,outlines Chen Tingjing’s literary activity trajectory in Kangxi Dynasty,with a view to exploring Chen Tingjing’s role in Kangxi poetry,enriching our understanding of Chen Tingjing’s literary identity.The paper consists of the following parts.The introduction part introduces the reasons for the selection of the thesis and the current research status of Chen Tingjing,and summarizes the research methods and ideas of this paper.The first chapter discusses the contradiction between Chen Ting Jing’s poetry creation and the identity of government officials.Chen Tingjing served as an official in Beijing for for decades.He presided over the cultural and educational cause of the Kangxi Dynasty and was regarded as the head of the literati at that time However,his poetry which described the content of seclusion is more inconsistent with his official identity.This phenomenon deeply reflects Chen Tingjing’s hidden mentality,this mentality is the background of the early Qing Dynasty literary background.The great pressure between Chen Tingjing’s social identity and personal mentality influences Chen’s poetry creation,so that his poetry are not as empty and flashy as his predecessors’works and presents an elegant and mellow appearance.The second chapter discusses Chen Tingjing’s poetic thought.Chen Tingjing has a tendency to judge poetic works with the concept of "content before form",which is closely related to Chen Tingjing’s long-term experience of lectures.The literary concept of the "first and later texts" and Chen’s profound accomplishment in classics and literature make him to chose an elegant style instead of the empty one Furthermore,Chen TingJing has a poetic book named " Poetry about Du Fu’s Metrical Verses",in which Chen Tingjing discussed some problems such as the relationship between poor and late work,the poem and history,and concept of Du Fu’s poem.The third chapter analyzes Chen Tingjing’s poetry creation.He stressed that literary creation should have social significance which influenced his election of poetic style and poetic forms.Chen Tingjing has a conscious sense of distinguishing genre and he is good at imitating the style of poetry.On the other hand,he can absorb the creative merits of writers such as Tao Yuanming and Du Fu.The last chapter discusses the literary historical significance of Chen Ting jing’s poetic thought.Chen Tingjing’s poetics concept can’t accomplish in an action,it was close with poetry literary debate in Kangxi dynasty.Chen Tingjing’s poetic activities in his later years also influenced his concept of poetry so that his poetic concept is more stable.The discussion of the relationship between poor and sophisticated is also a microcosm of the practice of transforming DuFu’s poetic connotation and dispelling Du Fu’s poetic grievances.Chen Tingjing is an important figure between the literati in the early Qing dynasty and the writers of the QianLong dynasty,and his poetic theory also has a certain influence on Shen Deqian’s critical theory.The rest of the theory summarizes the poetic value of Chen Tingjing from both macro and micro aspects.Chen Tingjing’s poetic practice is the microcosm of the early Qing dynasty period when the literary people adjusted their theory of poetics to adapt to the political ecological situation,and Chen Tingjing’s position.Chen Tingjing’s great influence in in KangXi poetry world also provided relevant reference for thinking about the canonization of literary works and the emergence of literary schools.
