| This paper is a report on E-C translation of Kobe Forever.The original text is selected from Chapters 1 to 9 of Kobe forever.As a biography of celebrity,this book has vivid descriptions of characters and sports fields,so the text has the characteristics of both biographies and sports news texts.Therefore,for recreating Kobe Bryant’s sportsmanship in the original text,the understanding and processing of literariness and technical terms in sports news texts have become the key to completing this translation project After considering the text’s characteristics,the author chooses George Steiner’s Fourfold Translation Motion theory to analyze the text.Steiner divides the translation process into four movements:"trust","aggression","incorporation",and"compensation".Eventually,he wants to achieve the equivalence of the source text and the target text.This report is divided into five chapters.Chapter one is a description of the translation task.Chapter two expounds the translation process.Chapter three makes a brief review of theories concerning hermeneutics in translation and George Steiner’s Fourfold Translation Motion theory.In chapter four,the author analyzes the application of George Steiner’s Fourfold Translation Motion theory in translation through analysis of the representative cases.In chapter five,the author summarizes her translation content,finds out the existing problems and puts forward some improved methods so that she can gain useful experience in translating the same text in the future. |
