| Conjunctions are a very important part in the study of complex sentences.Cong’er and Yin’er are used as causal conjunctions, and the differences between them are the focus of many scholar’s research. In recent years, the research results of Cong’er and Yin’er conjunctions are mainly reflected in the ontological research of the same conjunctions and the comparative research between different conjunctions, but the methods of quantitative analysis are slightly insufficient.Based on a large number of linguistic facts, this paper uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods to analyze the syntactic structure, semantic features and pragmatic functions of Cong’er and Yin’er,and tries to find out the differences between them by using chi square test and Z-value calculation. This paper mainly includes five parts:The first part is the introduction. It first clarifies the background and significance of the topic, and then summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of each viewpoint based on the research results of previous scholars, briefly discusses the research status and significance of the paper, and finally explains the research methods and corpus sources of this paper. The second part mainly starts with the syntactic structure, describes the characteristics of Cong’er and Yin’er,and summarizes the differences between them in syntactic structure, including:tense, dynamic and static, consistency of the narrative subject, the positional relationship between causal conjunctions and the subject of subsequent clauses, and the classification of subsequent clauses. In this part, the author also calculates the collocation strength of the reason flags You’yu and Yin’wei and the result flags Cong’er and Yin ’er through the Z value and conducts a comparative analysis. The third part mainly discusses the characteristics and differences of Cong’er and Yin’er from the perspective of semantic relations, and then explains the replacement between the two and the differences after replacement, and finally explains the semantic prosody tendency of the two.Causality, coherence and truthfulness are the semantic characteristics of both Cong’er and Yin’er,but purpose is the unique semantic characteristic of Cong’er.Based on these four semantic characteristics, the author divides the compound sentence connected by two conjunctions into static causative sentence, dynamic causative sentence, causal coherent sentence, causal target sentence and coherent target sentence. In terms of semantic prosody, the author finds that Cong’er tends to positive semantic prosody, and Yin’er tends to neutral semantic prosody. The fourth part mainly analyzes the cohesive function differences, subjective and objective differences and style differences between Cong’er and Yin’er from the perspective of pragmatic function. In terms of cohesive ability, words, phrases, clauses and even clauses can be added after Yin’er,while the language unit after Cong’er is restricted, generally clauses. In subjective and objective terms,Cong’er has no obvious tendency in subjectivity and objectivity, while Yin’er is more inclined to choose subjectivity. In terms of style differences, the conjunction Cong’er is also much higher than Yin’er in the frequency of use,and both Cong’er and Yin’er tend to appear in the written style, which hardly appears in the spoken style. The fifth part is the conclusion, which summarizes the content of the full text, and puts forward the shortcomings and deficiencies that still exist in the thesis. |
